RESUMEN

A novel Ag3PO4/ZnWO4-modified graphite felt electrode (AZW@GF) was prepared by drop coating method and applied to photoelectrocatalytic removal of harmful algae. Results showed that approximately 99.21% of chlorophyll a and 91.57% of Microcystin-LR (MCLR) were degraded by the AZW@GF-Pt photoelectrocatalytic system under the optimal operating conditions with a rate constant of 0.02617 min-1 and 0.01416 min-1, respectively. The calculated synergistic coefficient of photoelectrocatalytic algal removal and MC-LR degradation by the AZW@GF-Pt system was both larger than 1.9. In addition, the experiments of quenching experiments and electron spin resonance (ESR) revealed that the photoelectrocatalytic reaction mainly generated •OH and •O2- for algal removal and MC-LR degradation. Furthermore, the potential pathway for photoelectrocatalytic degradation of MC-LR was proposed. Finally, the photoelectrocatalytic cycle algae removal experiments were carried out on AZW@GF electrode, which was found to maintain the algae removal efficiency at about 91% after three cycles of use, indicating that the photoelectrocatalysis of AZW@GF electrode is an effective emergency algae removal technology.

RESUMEN

In this study, a pilot-scale evaporation tower system was built to treat the desulfurization wastewater by spray evaporation. The distribution characteristics of Cl- in the wastewater evaporation process were investigated. Besides, the morphology and physicochemical property of solid evaporation products from desulfurization wastewater were analyzed. In addition, the emission characteristics of fine particulates were evaluated. The results indicated that the increase of salt content in desulfurization wastewater increased the mass concentrations of Cl- in three phases, but the proportions of it remained almost unchanged, which were about 10%, 55%, and 35% in the gas phase, outlet solid phase, and bottom solid phase respectively. The increase of flue gas temperature can improve the content of Cl- in the gas phase, while the increase of wastewater pH inhibited the formation of gaseous HCl. The solid evaporation products from desulfurization wastewater had a prismatic crystal structure, which mainly included the sulfate and chloride salts, and the main elements including O, Na, Mg, S, Cl, K, and Ca. Besides, the peak values of particle size distribution in the bottom solid phase and outlet solid phase were 7.67 and 0.32 µm, respectively. For the particulate matters in flue gas, the spray evaporation of desulfurization wastewater can reduce the particle concentration, promote particle agglomeration, reduce the number concentration of fine particles, and improve the removal effect of PM10. When the inlet particle concentration was 7.62 g/m3, it can reduce the particle concentration at the tower outlet to 4.59 g/m3 and reduce the number and mass concentrations of PM10 after ESP by about 43.8% and 36.8%.

RESUMEN

A novel adsorbent consisting of tannic acid (TA) immobilized on graphene oxide (GO) was proposed and used to remove Hg2+ from desulfurization wastewater. The morphology and physicochemical properties of tannin-immobilized graphene oxide (TAIGO) were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The characterization results showed that TA was successfully immobilized on GO, and that new functional groups were introduced on TAIGO. The effects of contact time, adsorbent dose, pH, and ion components on removal efficiency were evaluated. The adsorption process was found to be complete within 15 min, and the removal efficiency increased with increasing adsorbent dosage. The pH value affected the protonation of TAIGO and the form of Hg2+ in wastewater. High concentrations of Cl- and SO32- hindered the adsorption performance, whereas SO42- and cations had a negligible effect. In addition, the excellent economic benefits of TAIGO were analyzed in an economic evaluation, and the Hg2+ removal efficiency remained at 88% after three recycles. A pseudo-second-order kinetic model (R = 0.9995) was used to fit the adsorption process, and the oxygen-containing functional groups and chelation reaction played critical roles in adsorption. TAIGO is a low-cost adsorbent with high Hg2+ removal efficiency and could be further used in practical desulfurization wastewater.

RESUMEN

In order to investigate the effect of temperatures and operating modes on extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) contents, three sequencing batch reactors (SBRs) were operated at temperatures of 15, 25, and 35 °C (R15 °C, R25 °C, and R35 °C, respectively), with two SBRs operated under alternating anoxic/oxic conditions (RA/O and RO/A, respectively). Results showed that higher contents of tightly bound EPS (TB-EPS) and total EPS appeared in R15 °C, while loosely bound EPS (LB-EPS) dominated in R35 °C. In all three kinds of EPS (LB-EPS, TB-EPS and total EPS) assessed, protein was the main component in R15 °C and R25 °C, while polysaccharides dominated in R35 °C. Moreover, compared with RO/A, RA/O was favorable for the production of the three kinds of EPS. Furthermore, three kinds of EPS and their components were augmented during the nitrification process, while they declined during the denitrification process under all conditions except for R35 °C.

RESUMEN

The responses of microbial structures, functional profiles and metabolic pathways during nitrification to four C/N ratios (0, 5, 10 and 15) were investigated in four parallel SBRs denoted as S0, S5, S10, S15. Results indicated that microbial diversities were affected by C/N ratios, while the same dominant taxa were observed, mainly including Proteobacteria, Betaproteobacteria, Rhodocyclales, Rhodocyclaceae, Zoogloea. The unique biomarkers were identified in each sludge sample through LEfSe analysis. Functional genera/enzymes responsible for removing organics and nitrogen coexisted in four SBRs at different abundances, except for that ammonia oxidizing bacteria (AOB) Nitrosomonas (0.33%-0.66%) and ammonia monooxygenase (amo) (9.4 × 10-7-2.8 × 10-6) were only detected in S0. Moreover, PICRUSt analysis indicated similar overall patterns of metabolic pathways in four sludge samples. The network analysis revealed that total nitrogen removal positively correlated with hcp (Spearman's ρ of 0.853), and ammonia oxidizing rate was associated with amo (Spearman's ρ of 0.096).
